Allergens, intolerances and food safety
Last updated 26 October 2026. Nomstash is a product from TraitSpan.
Our recipes are our opinion, not advice
The recipes, tips and guides on Nomstash are how we’d cook. Where food safety comes up, we quote a government source, such as the Food Standards Agency or the NHS, in their own words and link the page, so you can read the advice where it comes from.
We don’t check recipes for allergens
Nomstash doesn’t check recipes, dishes or meal plans for allergens or intolerances, and never says a recipe is free from anything. The same ingredient can be made differently by different brands, and recipes change. The label on the pack you buy is what counts, so check every ingredient list yourself, for everyone you’re cooking for.
GOV.UK says: If prepacked food or drink contains any of the 14 allergens, they must be clearly labelled within the ingredients list.
(GOV.UK). The 14 allergens are:
- celery
- cereals containing gluten - including wheat, rye, barley and oats
- crustaceans - including prawns, crab and lobster
- eggs
- fish
- lupin
- milk
- molluscs - including squid, mussels, cockles, whelks and snails
- mustard
- nuts
- peanuts
- sesame seeds
- soya beans
- sulphur dioxide or sulphites at levels above 10mg per kilogram or per litre
If you or someone you cook for has a food allergy or intolerance, the Food Standards Agency has food allergy and intolerance advice for consumers.
Preparing food safely is up to you
How you store, cook, cool, freeze, defrost and reheat food is up to you. Our recipes quote the Food Standards Agency where they can, but they don’t replace its advice. Read it on its own pages:

What we’re responsible for
You use Nomstash at your own risk. We aren’t responsible for illness, allergic reactions or other harm that comes from the ingredients you choose, or from how food is stored, prepared or cooked. Nothing here limits what the law doesn’t let us limit, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
The full wording is in our terms: allergies and intolerances, food safety and liability. Questions? Email hello@nomstash.com.
